How to Provision the Softphone

Step 1:  Find the Phone Icon
This is located in the lower right-hand corner of the screen (by the clock) in the system tray.

Softphone Icon

Step 2:  Open the Provision Screen
Right click the icon to bring up the softphone’s menu, then click Provision at the top of the menu.

Step 3:  Click Next
Once the Provisioning Wizard opens, click Next.

Step 4: Open Audio Tuning Wizard

Next, open up the audio properties by clicking Audio Tuning Wizard.

Step 5:  Click Next

Once the Audio Tuning Wizard opens, click Next.

Step 6:  Select Headset

On the next screen, we must set the phone to use the headset.  In the two drop downs, make sure the USB headset is selected for both the microphone and speakers.  After that, click Next.

Step 7: Click Next

The next window is disabled by Windows settings. Just click Next.

Step 8: Click Next

The next window is disabled by Windows settings. Just click Next.

Step 9:  Click Finish
Click on Finish to close the Audio Tuning Wizard and return to the Softphone Provisioning Wizard.

Step 10: Click Next
Now that we are back to the Softphone Provisioning Wizard, click Next.

Step 11:  Wait for Query
The Wizard will now query the DHCP server.  Wait about 30 seconds for this to finish.

Step 12:  Confirm Provisioning Server
Be sure that “Configure Settings” is selected, and the Phone Provisioning Server is set to ims-i3-c1.rmg.local (this should be set by default).  Once the proper server is inputted, click Next.

Step 13:  Select Network Adapter
On the next screen, make sure the 2nd option (I use a VPN…) is selected.  In the two drop downs that appear after selecting the 2nd option, make sure both items start with 10.253.

This tells the phone which network the phone server is located on.  If this is not set properly, the phone will not work.  This is the setting most likely to get changed, as it will revert to the wrong adapter if there are any network issues.  Both drop downs must be set to the IP that starts with 10.253 (the text is not important and will say something different on each computer, only the IP is important).

Step 14: Click Finish

Click on Finish.  The softphone is now provisioned.
